In a first of its kind performance, Unfiltered Response: Faculty Dances brings live dance and dance film to the new university art museum. Dance faculty members Tara Mullins, Autumn Mist Belk and Francine Ott will present a collection of their original choreography performed in the Gregg’s Sanderson-Black Gallery. Belk will premiere Shift, an abstract dance layered with video projections, created on Code f.a.d. Company dancers and in direct response to the current Herb Jackson exhibition in the gallery. Mullins explores the concept of forgiveness in her solo (Un)Hinder and will also show two short dance films created in 2016 with Doug Kass, film instructor at Elon University. Ott will perform with UNCG Associate Professor Clarice C. Young in Outta the Box, a duet co-created by the two dancers in 2017 to investigate what it means to live and create beyond our limitations.
The performance is open to public and we invite students, faculty and staff and community members to join us for a beautiful night of modern dance in a museum gallery.
