Musical Empowerment hosts annual showcase Feb. 9

The music department-affiliated student organization Musical Empowerment (ME) will host its annual showcase benefit concert on Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. to raise money to support its mission. The group, which is the NC State chapter of a national organization, envisions a world in which music is a catalyst for all children to unlock their unique potential. To accomplish this goal, they recruit experienced musicians from the student body at NC State to serve as music teachers, and pair them with local families for private music lessons and mentorship. They also lend necessary resources like instruments and books to their students.

The annual showcase will celebrate the talent and hard work of ME’s partnering students and their families, along with their volunteer music teachers. Several students will perform and some of the teachers will perform solo and in small ensembles. All four of the NC State a cappella choirs, also music department-affiliated student organizations, will perform as well.

The showcase will take place on Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Piedmont Mountains Ballroom in Talley Student Union, and tickets are available for purchase online.
