Meet the New Dance Company Members

Nerves and excitement filled the dance studio last month as both academic dance companies held auditions for the 2019-2020 school year. After much thought and consideration, we are thrilled to welcome seven talented dancers to our companies this year! These new members are already hard at work learning new pieces and preparing for the upcoming Fall Concert. Learn more about them below!

Panoramic Dance Project

Panoramic Dance Project is an academic dance company of NC State University that presents a variety of dance styles in a world context with a focus on African, hip-hop and Latin dance. They explore culturally rich dance traditions and perform works by student choreographers, guest artists, and faculty member, Francine Ott.

Major: Animal Science, Second year
Hometown: Lewiston, NY
When Ashley isn’t dancing, she keeps busy as a board member of the Filipino American Student Association, volunteering with the Turtle Rescue Team, and participating in the Scholars Program on campus!

Name: Clara Ceniccola
Major: SKEMA Business Student
Hometown: France
Clara began dancing at the age of four and it has been her passion ever since!

Name: Polly Sommers
Major: Communication Media, Second year
Hometown: Richmond, VA
Dance is a part of Polly’s life in more ways than one; she is also a Zumba instructor for NC State Wellness and Recreation!

State Dance Company

The State Dance Company is an academic dance company of NC State University that performs the choreography of the artistic director, Tara Mullins, and annual guest artists. With an emphasis on modern dance, the State Dance Company explores research-based movement and unique performance opportunities that range from festivals to formal concerts.

Caroline loves to dance because it allows her to express herself, stay active, and learn new styles!

Name: Athena He-DeMontaron
Major: Animal Science, First year
Hometown: Charlotte, NC
Athena has spent the last six years training in the circus arts and loves aerial dancing!

Name: Grace Lincroft
Major: Parks Recreation and Tourism Management, First year
Hometown: Cary, NC
Other than the State Dance Company, Grace is a member of the National Parks Club and the PLATFORM Model Team on campus!

Name: Alexa Simeonsson
Major: Environmental Science, First year
Hometown: Chapel Hill, NC
Alexa attended Governor’s School West for dance in 2018 and is excited to continue her dance training at NC State!
