NCSU Jazz Ensemble I Hosting Frank Sinatra Themed Recital

On the evening of October 20th, the NCSU Jazz Ensemble I will take audience members back in time for a Frank Sinatra and Rat Pack themed concert

The show, which will bring The Rat Pack and The Wolf Pack together, marks the first time the NCSU Jazz Band will pay homage to the legendary jazz performers. The idea came about last semester after they performed two Sinatra songs. “It was super fun, and it occurred to me then that we should do a whole concert,” said Director Wes Parker.

The concert will feature Triangle Area vocalists Nash Roberts, bandleader of the popular local wedding band the Shakedown, and Jonathon Crozier, a sophomore at NC State from New York. To make the evening authentic and special, “most of the music we’re doing is the original arrangements that Count Basie’s band did with Sinatra in the 1950s and 1960s,”says Dr. Parker.

The show will be in Stewart Theatre at 7 PM in Talley Student Union, 2610 Cates Ave, Raleigh, NC 27606. Tickets are $5 for NCSU Students, $8 for NSCU Faculty and Staff/Seniors/and Non-NCSU Students, and $10 for the general public. They can be purchased here.
