About Dr. Gary Beckman

Beckman is the director of entrepreneurial studies in the arts for the Department of Music at NC State University, where he developed and administers the nation’s first and largest arts entrepreneurship minor. He co-founded and co-edited the world’s first academic journal on arts entrepreneurship education, edited the field’s first essay collection, “Disciplining the Arts: Teaching Entrepreneurship in Context,” and co-founded the Society for Arts Entrepreneurship Education (SAEE), which recently named its only research award in his honor.

About the Department of Music

The Department of Music at NC State provides educational and performance opportunities for student and community participants through a variety of musical experiences and academic courses, with 18 curricular ensembles open to all NC State students, four minors and a wide range of affiliated student organizations. The department also serves as a cultural resource for the university and the greater community through performances and presentations offered by our students, our student/community groups and by our faculty.
