Student Organizations

Students at NC State pursue their diverse musical interests through our courses and the affiliated student organizations that we support. Getting involved in music is as easy as attending an interest meeting or reaching out to learn more about a club.

Whether you’re looking for a chance to perform with a group or to learn more about a specific topic with likeminded friends, there’s a student organization waiting for you. If there’s not, we can help you start one!

I will never forget my first time singing with [Uninhibited Praise Gospel Choir]. I found more than a singing group, I found a family. Joining was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made at State.

Rush Mu Beta Psi

NC State is home to the alpha chapter of Mu Beta Psi, a gender-inclusive national honorary music fraternity with a focus on service.

Mu Beta Psi was founded at NC State in 1925. The fraternity provides fellowship for campus musicians, and engages in service activities for the music department and music-related nonprofits.

Check the department events calendar for rush activities and other events throughout the year, and follow them on Instagram @mubetapsi_alpha.

Performing organizations

There are six student-run a cappella groups at NC State, a student-run gospel choir, a traditional Scottish bagpipe band, and a group that gathers once a week to jam in Price Music Center. Groups that require auditions to join will promote their audition dates on their social media channels, so be sure to follow them for details.

Check out music by some of our a cappella groups on our NC State A Cappella Spotify playlist!

Music interest organizations

In addition to our performing student organizations, we have a wide variety of affiliated groups dedicated to other music-related interests, such as the music industry, teaching or hip hop. Reach out or follow them on social media for more information.
