Resources to help you make music
We know not everyone has access to an instrument of their own, and our rental program has you covered. Student-musicians in our ensembles may rent an instrument for $35 per semester or $70 for the academic year. The rental fee includes access to an instrument storage locker in Price Music Center. Ensemble students who bring their own instrument may also request access to a locker.
Beyond instrument rentals, certain ensembles require students to rent uniforms, and we have a small number of rental tuxedos available.
Schedule your rental or return appointment
The Department of Music operates instrument, locker and uniform rentals and returns by appointment only in Price Music Center, room 203.
Beginning August 19, 2022, you may book a 10-minute appointment between 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. or 1:00-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please reserve your appointment 24 hours in advance.
If no appointments are available, contact Colin Moore at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How to book a rental or return appointment
To book an appointment, log into your NC State Google calendar, click on an available time slot, enter your desired instrument and ensemble (or return information) in the description box, and click save. The appointment will then appear on your calendar.
Before your rental appointment, please pay the $35 rental fee for the semester by visiting our e-store and forward your receipt via email to Operations Coordinator Colin Moore (email@example.com). After your appointment you will receive a rental contract via email to sign electronically.
Please arrive at Price 203 for your appointment no more than five minutes early to reduce crowding.
Percussionists do not need to schedule an in-person appointment. Please contact your ensemble director for questions about accessing percussion equipment.
Borrowing an instrument for an audition
If you need to borrow an instrument for an audition but don’t yet know if you will be renting for the semester, please confirm your need for the instrument with your ensemble director and include a note about your temporary usage in the description box when you schedule your rental appointment.
