Bio

Chris Branam is a Lecturer and Director of Music Camps in the music department at North Carolina State University. He served as the Assistant Director of the NC State Marching Band from 2010-2019.  He conducts the Symphonic Band and the Beginning Band within the music department.  Mr. Branam holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Campbell University while studying with conductor/composer Dr. Jack Stamp. Mr. Branam attended Southern Oregon University for graduate studies, focusing on conducting, jazz, and instrumental pedagogy. While serving as the Drum Major for the 27th Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps, Branam studied conducting at the New England Conservatory of Music with composer/conductor Dr. Frank Battisti.

 

Prior to his appointment at NC State, Branam has served the NC Public School System for over 20 years directing successful high School and middle school bands.  He has been recognized by the SBO Magazine, Central District Bandmaster Association, and most recently in 2015 for his “Values in Education Award” presented by Cary Chamber of Commerce for his contributions to music education.

 

Mr. Branam is an active visual/musical coordinator, clinician, and adjudicator for bands throughout the region.
