Major Degree

Music Technology (B.S.)

The Music Technology degree prepares you to develop new technologies for the music industry and related sectors by combining music training with interdisciplinary study in electrical engineering, computer engineering, design, and arts entrepreneurship.

The minor in Arts Entrepreneurship introduces you to a variety of methods to plan, execute and sustain an arts or arts-related venture.

The Change of Degree Application (CODA) is NC State’s centralized resource for adding or changing majors. Undergraduate degree-seeking students at NC State may use the CODA resource in their MyPack Portal to apply to the music technology degree program.

If you’re interested in learning to play an instrument, improving your vocal techniques or understanding the fundamentals of music theory, we offer several courses perfectly suited to student musicians just starting out.

Dance Companies

Work with professional artists and train in a wide range of dance styles as you focus on performance, the choreographic process and dance-making. Each company is a course that you can repeat for credit. Admission is open by audition.

Open to movers of all experience levels, this class will explore modern dance elements accessible to all bodies in a comfortable and safe environment. Through improvisation, movement exploration, and modern dance fundamentals, dancers will cultivate a sense of connection to their bodies and fellow community members as they build phrase work and relationships throughout the class. People of all abilities are welcome! Instructor Payton Chopp (she/her) is a dance artist and educator based in Raleigh, NC. In her personal practice, Payton explores the idea of “process” in modern dance by integrating improvisation and play with her passion for technique. She currently dances professionally with Black Box Dance Theatre, a nonfiction modern dance company, and works in Vocational Rehabilitation with a focus on justice, accessibility, and dignity.
